OGS is the footballing romantic choice 15:41 - Jun 18 with 2023 viewsjasondozzell

I think GON a bit underestimated. Did a good job at Bournemouth.

But OGS surely has to be the Ipswich choice.

The connection to McKenna, Pert etc.

McKenna was a romantic at heart and so is OGS. And the fact that his wife's family are Town fans because we played their home town in the 60s...

Desperate for it to be Solskjaer now!

Surely it's obvious why we're considering O'Neil? He took over newly-promoted Bournemouth in Late August 2022 and they stayed up taking 36 points from 34 games.

Not like they even had an outrageously good team either, their starting line-up for his first win: Neto; Zemura, Smith, Mepham, Kelly; Lerma, Cook; Tavernier, Billing, Christie; Solanke.

Why wouldn't you consider someone who's literally done the job that we want done?

Different circumstances.

Hed already been at bournemouth for 18 months prior to taking on the caretaker role. And when he got the job signings had already been made and i think it was just two he managed before the window closed.

We are needing a manager whos going to have to sign a lot of players. Oneil too hasnt beem at the club prior so everything will be new

Without looking into sure he kept bournemouth up so yeah prime target. But the job is vastly different imo.

Circumstances are always going to be different but that's surely as analogous as we're reasonably going to find, isn't it?

I don't know that not being involved in Bournemouth's Summer transfer business is particularly a red flag. Managers aren't that central to talent ID these days (and they improved after he had a window in any case).

Wouldn't say I hope it's him even and think the breakdown in discipline at Wolves in season 2 is a concern (though season 1 definitely also goes in the positives column) but I can definitely see why we'd consider him.
