It is all down to the recruitment now, GON is a cog in the wheel in many ways a bit of a scapegoat if it all goes tits up.
I said on another thread I am not convinced MA is a premier league operator (Championship he is, we know this from the outcomes) so this is his time to cut the corporate nonsense and blue sky thinking speeches and develop a squad that can win football matches in the premier league. Reading between the lines of his comments in one of Phil's articles yesterday, I think that MA is painfully aware that failure will be on him as well as GO'N this time around. Either he just knows, or it's been made explicitly clear to him by the owners. |  |

Was Wolves the sort of setup where he was more of a Head Coach, and that the players were identified and bought for him?
If so, that's probably a legitimate criticism and, looking at how things are starting to progress at ITFC, one we may well hear as well should the season not go according to plan. | |

I'm sure he knew that already, even if KM had stayed, avoiding relegation is the aim this season, and that includes all aspects.
To be fair to MA that's why he wants the mgr in asap, at least then the mgr can agree / disagree with the potential purchases.
Conversely you could have fantastic recruiting and the mgr fails. Look at Slot last season, PL transfer records for fowards and he completely failed. Do you blame the recruiting team, the owners who employed Slot, or Slot. |  | | |

Ashton shouldn’t be picking players at all - he should be getting the data led infrastructure and foreign scouting network in place. If he is going to move away from 4-2-3-1 then the recruitment model would need to change anyway to fit a new system and sign more strikers or whatever if he plays 2 up front. | | | |
