Feels like we're watching the winners of this World Cup tonight. 20:51 - Jul 14 with 1514 viewsTheBoyBlue

Regardless of who wins tomorrow, you feel that Spain playing like this will be too good for Argentina or England and likewise if France sort themselves out and return to their best.

However. However. Football throws up wonderful surprises. Never expected France to be this poor this evening. And Cape Verde of all teams have shown that Spain aren't invincible. Gotta love football.

Not really played a team I wouldn't expect them to beat yet, so to be determined if Tuchel's really elevated them above Southgate-era levels.

That's a harsh reading of Mexico, at altitude in Mexico City, with no time to prepare, with 10 men.

Mexico hadn't conceded a goal prior to that match.

Very challenging game but still ultimately a game against much inferior players.

Think in reality this is as good a shot as England are going to have at winning a major tournament.

Spain are so so, Baena, Olmo and Oyarzabal are all fairly middling forwards, Lamine Yamal still doesn't look 100% to me. France got schooled tactically but that's equal parts that Deschamps is a fraud, the game state suiting them after the extremely fortunate penalty, France's main flaw (poor centre midfield) being a good matchup for Spain's main strength (Rodri and Ruiz).

It's not a vintage Spain side at all and one performance doesn't change that for me.

I agree that compared to one or two previous Spanish sides it isn't an absolute vintage one, but it's still one good enough to beat the team most thought just had to turn up, a schooling. The difference between the two? Ones a " team " of individuals, the others a team. I'd still rather watch them than just about any other international team I can think of, in terms of pure football. They've cut out some of overly excessive amounts of passing and are a bit more quicker at getting the ball forward. If not us, I sincerely hope it's them taking the trophy back home at the weekend.
