49 in a week and been brought up on the dangling carrot of England success that we just never seem able to grab

Sometimes it seems like the England hand is wrapped around said carrot (like last night) just to somehow contrive to grab at mid air

Other times, we don't even have the carrot even remotely in the sights

either way, same result
just differing levels of disappointment

I just watch each tournaments now with an air of inevitability about England's progress. 'When' we get knocked out not 'if'.

Qualifiers under whelming performances
