Now that I have a window.

When I think of Ashton, I think of Wilde’s observation that some people bring happiness wherever they go, others whenever they go. And yes, you may infer from that I’ll be happy when we’re shot of him. I’m also in a minority who think our new manager will bring more gloom than boom.

Will soon be time for the “squad needs time to gel” routines.

Squad needs time to gel is not an excuse. We’ve had loads of time and frankly we can’t afford a repeat of last season. It looks like we take just ONE new signing on the Spain camp. It will be defended by many on here … but it’s not good enough. In just five weeks, game one will be complete. We need at least another nine or ten through the door. Squad gelling excuse will actually mean - failed.
