| Need a pinned thread on which sites are credible on 09:27 - Jul 19 with 779 views | SheffordBlue | I'm sure there would be quite a bit of debate about exactly where different people sit but I tend to look at it like this. Some of the placings are down to access e.g Ornstein/John Percy often have further reach/better access than our local journos. Some of it is down to intent e.g SportsBoom seems to exist to drive traffic to gambling sites: Tier 1 – Most Reliable - Almost always post well-sourced stories/links with some truth behind them: David Ornstein, Nick Ames, John Percy, The Athletic Tier 2 – Usually Reliable - Information shared by the source can be seen as trustworthy: Stu Watson, Phil – (Stu and Phil -when posting own stories rather than resharing which may be less reliable), Fabrizio Romano, Ben Jacobs, SkySports Tier 3 – Sometimes Reliable - Around 50/50 hit rate here: Graeme Bailey, Alan Nixon, Nick Mashitter, TalkSport Tier 4 – Less Reliable - Occasionally reliable but more often clickbait, agent led stories Pete O’Rourke, Rest of TeamTalk (not Graeme Bailey) Tier 5 – Waste of time - Almost always clickbait, AI generated, totally made up: Football League World, SportsBoom Aggregator Sites - just pull together all rumours both good and bad. Need to find the source article to judge how accurage it may be: Transferfeed | |

Tier 0 - always 100% reliable - BBC sports, ITFC.co.uk* *Apart from that time we’d had a player in and done the web page announcement that got leaked and then the deal collapsed right at the last minute

The official club site is Tier 0 but not sure on the BBC - they have a variety of writers like Mashiter who post early/poorly sourced stories that don't end up panning out. On transfer links I'd say they are Tier 1/2.

Oh ok. I was thinking of their transfer announcements on their website as they seem really risk adverse for most teams and only publish done deals. I’m not familiar with their wider online activity so didn’t realise they repost rumours as well. Good call - happy to relegate them.
