Some of you may recall I posted a short while back about potentially moving back to Norfolk.
Whilst i's and t's still need to be dotted and crossed it looks like it is now a goer and I'm just waiting for official offer confirmation.
With that in mind I'm thinking about where to base myself ans welcome any reccomemdations.
The office will be east of the city and so I'm looking towards the east side of the county.
Current thoughts include Porringland, ludham, Acle, Bloefiele and South Walsham.
Needless to say I'll need to book some time off and refamilliarise myself with the area.
Main things to consider.
1. The cat, somewhere where the traffic isnt too busy, of course everywhere will have its busier and quieter roads
2. Commute, office to be Broadland business park. I dont mind anything up to 35 or 40 mins but wary that traffic into Norwich can be a nightmare.
3. Decent local pub, I'm moving on my own I have a couple of friends still in the area and a few old ones I can look up but would like a community feel where I might meet new people.
Any thoughts on the areas I'm considering and any suggestions for any i have missed?
As an aside I grew up near Wymondham so would look atthwt side of the city too but think I'm setting myself up for a brutal commute.

There are a lot of places which are quiet enough for a ranging cat but none of them are any of the places mentioned except perhaps Upton near Acle. It also has a community owner shop and pub. Easy reach for the offices.
Acle has a Good Beer Guide pub in the Hermitage and an excellent local social club. But no countryside for a cat.
Cantley has another GBG pub the Cock. With the sugar factory closing down in the next few months houses there and at next door Reedham may become cheaper.
I can confirm Reeham has 3 pubs and a station which will be of no use to you to get to work. But it may help you to get to the match.
South Walsham has no surviving pubs. North Washam however has cracking ones.
Gillingham on the Norfolk/Suffolk border near Beccles is out of the way and has two good pubs.
Loddon/Chedgrave to the south east is a nice village with quieter parts and a couple of excellent pubs. |

I live in Harleston and it’s a great little town. I feel like one of the locals now but I’ve been here 20 years but I fell into new mates pretty quickly wirh watching Harleston town, poker and a few random nights out.
I really love the whole of the Suffolk / noroflk boarder abd the river Waveney. The jewel in the crown is Beccles it’s just a fantastic little town . I love it there for so many reasons.

I think sadly just that bit too far out, an hr on a good day at rush traffic or would I be pleasently surprised? | |
