What to do with Jack Clarke.. 20:07 - Aug 9 with 5215 viewsWallingford_Boy

Keep him? Good option from bench?

Sell him? Cash in and reinvest the cash?

Probably the former for me, especially with Philogene likely to be off.

Think the naysayers have nailed it in this thread.

He's inconsistent, physically lacking, even sometimes technically too and defensively despite trying his best not a natural.

We need players who will make the most of every 1 on 1, breakaway, etc, making correct decisions and very least not losing the ball, because those chances will be at a premium and Clarke is just going to frustrate by wasting half of them.

His party trick the cut inside and shoot to far post is a tactic PL defenders will deal with comfortably as most the wingers in the PL do it and much better than JC

Honestly the best is to sell to a top Championship side - that's JCs level for me.

Poll: What rating out of 10 do you give to Ipswichs season up to this point?

Not going to judge him too much in pre-season, but his performances when it mattered last season are enough for me.

Maeda as a starter, a proper runner, and then Clarke coming on against a tired full back, always going to have a chance. He's fast, just not particularly strong.

What I'd love. Really love. Is for him to rock up to the next game with a buzz cut and shorts like Glenn Hoddle. A proper fresh start.

He's got skill in abundance, so no. Can't let him leave, unless Philogene is staying. Need different profiles for different games and Clarke and Philogene are completely different to Maeda.

I always thought this season Clarke & Philogene would be insurance policies incase we didn't stay up.

I know they were both bought with the PL in mind, but they are both cheat codes in the Champ that we may find it harder to buy in than keep already in the building.

Jaden seems likely to leave, so i'd be reticent to lose Clarke as well. I'd like to see how much he has improved and can adapt with better players around him this time. He could prove very useful on the break away from home, I have memories of him jinking past Evertons midfield at Goodison to set us on our way.

See where we are at the end of the season, or at the very least January and then assess where he is at.

He's a keeper for me (no, not a goalie), he will create chances in the Prem by running forward directly, taking defenders on and playing others in on goal. I expect he will be working on not giving the ball away as often with stray passes. On his day he can be one of our match winners this season.
