| Some solid signings so far, yes we need more, a left back, a right back and most 10:20 - Aug 11 with 1314 views | Lion | importantly a striker or two, like others have said, you just have to try and enjoy the season but also I desperately want to stay up so that the club's growth can continue. I though that Leeds getting Calvert Lewin was huge last year, who could we get who would be a similar signing? We look more solid as a team then 24/25 but we need goals. I hope we can get Encisco who i think could be good for ten goals but the longer it goes on without signing him the more i am doubtful that it is going to happen. I'd cut one of my fingers off for fourth from bottom! | |

| Some solid signings so far, yes we need more, a left back, a right back and most on 10:50 - Aug 11 with 1194 views | dirtyboy | Calvert Lewin was a massive coup for Leeds, as is Brentford getting Wilson, Forest keeping Wood etc. These are all players we'd have been interested in, but, ultimately, with good strikers being in such high demand and more or less being stockpiled (look how many strikers who only scored 3 or 4 goals and don't play often aren't being let go). I'm starting to believe that Ipswich felt that getting the experienced striker was going to be so difficult, they went early on Emersonn as a bit of a gamble. We know he's not going to be prolific, but we also know he's got the right attributes for the league and could, just could, turn out to be a great bit of business. If he can occupy a defence, then I would hope that between Maeda, Clarke, Philogene(?), Egeli, Mehmeti, Fatawu and McAteer, we have enough goals to supplement any deficiency at the very top. Certainly different profiles of players for different games. If we could make the Enciso deal, things start to look a bit more promising. Akpom has been mentioned by GON a few times too, he looked a lot fitter this pre-season than I remember the entirety of the previous. Quicker too. Perhaps he sees this as a last chance. Interestingly, whilst Lille didn't take their option, and his goals tally post 'Boro isn't exactly great, his numbers per 90 hold up pretty well, I'm not hanging my hat on him, but perhaps there's a Glenn Murray in there waiting to get out lol!? Finally, I still think Hirst offers something. We won't be letting him go without a seriously decent option coming in first. He still scored 3 and got 1 assist in the equivalent of 7 games last time in the PL. Although his lack of pre-season games is telling. I think a LB and RB are most important still. | | | |
| Some solid signings so far, yes we need more, a left back, a right back and most on 11:05 - Aug 11 with 1134 views | blueoutlook | We definitely need another striker. Emersonn can’t be expected to take that burden on his own all season. I feel GON is going to keep Akpom around, but doesn’t seem to favour Hirst. He mentions Akpom a lot. Think we need someone else up top regardless. I’d like to see another centre back come in, left sided preferably. I’m not convinced by Greaves and Kipre really is only back up. Left back and right back really needs sorting. Johnson can do a job on both sides I believe and we know O Shea can do right and Greaves Left, but that should only be at a push. We could also do with a more forward thinking midfielder. Lukic isn’t bad at getting forward but he is more defensive. Then there is the question of a number 10. Egeli has looked good in there, but is still raw , maybe Ensico, but this could run right up until deadline day. Blueco, Chelsea and Strasbourg will string it out for all it’s worth a I fear. | | | |

I know for all the teams pretty much outside the top 6 it will run right to the end - and the world cup hasn't helped - but I think if you are a promoted team it really, really helps to get points on the board early before the big boys get going so everything crossed we can get a goalscorer in as soon as poss. Is the japanese boy, Ueda? ( i think that's his name ) unrealistic because i really like his stats, its all very stressful isn't it?!

At least we have Emersonn though - he looks to have a bit about him and could step up. Just got to be patient, but I don’t think signing a striker will be make or break for our season - our midfield was the area that needed the most work and we’re just about there with that now.

I'd have to disagree. I think a decent striker or 2 keeps you up. Not many teams go down only because they let in too many. It's more because they can't score. Plenty have gone down with OK defences, but they just cannot score. Having no threat means teams aren't even really worried about you scoring.
