Imagine waking up for a coma from the Evans years and someone telling you we've spent 24m on a striker who may not be first choice and we're in for a world cup winner.

You don’t even need to have been in a coma to still be taken about by our recent transfers or targets.
I still can’t believe that we’re buying players for more than a few quid let alone tens of millions. It was only five years ago that we were sinking slowly towards L2.
Now we’re a very ambitious club.
On a separate point - it wasn’t that long that we as a fanbase tried to make ourselves feel better by saying that we still had some better players than Norwich. Now it’s them who are somewhat deluded. [Post edited 13 Aug 19:23]

some years back I followed a lady and her two sons into my local supermarket. The boys were both decked out in the full orange away kit. I got chatting and she revealed she was Johnathon Symonds wife who was now on the board at ITFC. They owned a home in the Disney area and needed some small maintenance work carried out which i offered to help out with. I met him, chatted about Town got paid for my work and then a surprise arrived in the mail which was a replica town shirt from the Marcus Evans era. It still hangs proudly in a display case on my wall!

Possibly the most appropriately named owners in the history of the English game, and most certainly at ITFC. And they've done it all so far without even slightly attempting to come over as some " Johnny big b******s " and stay out of the limelight, unlike a lot of " minted " owners. long may it continue. |  | | |

Darkest before the dawn? That’s a myth. Anyhow, I felt much the same way but actually thought we’d have to go down to League 2 or even out of the League before anything happened. I thought winding up the club and starting a new one was probably the only way to get out of the spiral of decline. I actually had no problem with that if it shifted us out of Evans’ grip.
I’d be interested to know who knew what regarding Cook’s recruitment. It felt like it was done behind the prospective new owners’ backs (technically at the time it was Evans’ choice anyway). As an appointment it looked a good one for what we were - a lower league club, but it was crystal clear within a few months that it was not going to work.
Back to the point, I was cynical about Gamechanger. Words are cheap - especially American words. We were rid of Evans. That was the main thing. I thought if the owners ploughed a bit of money into the infrastructure, that alone would help the club because even if the b*ggered off, they can’t take buildings and stuff with them.
But my doubts were unfounded and it was actually kicking out Cook that confirmed they were serious to me. They are delivering what they promised and more.
I hope they are not over reaching themselves player wise, but maybe thats just me finding it bewildering.
The important thing is that they are getting so much right. The foundations they are putting in from community work to infrastructure are the key to the future and the generations that follow. They will certainly have more to enjoy than those who only knew the post-Robson era where far too much of it was dross.
Let’s face it, three promotions in four years? Not many supporters outside the big clubs get to enjoy that sort of thing. If anyone had told me that was to come six years ago, I’d have been rolling in the aisles. |  | | |

We should all look back on the memories made, they will survive a life time. However the biggest most high risk ones are here and to come. The fees, costs, potential cost of failure for finding a way to keep us and sustain us as a PL club are the next biggest milestone in a vision for the cluub. If you then include the cost of further investment around ground infrastructure these are what near and longer term success could look like but you are never far from 1 bad PL season followed by a season in the Champ that doesnt end the way you want then the money start running out and you are a club like Leicester Pity.
Hold dear everything that has gone before, appreciate everyday, look forward with ambition, and enjoy the journey. | |
