As an Irishman I have been watching Evans career since he first burst onto the scene. For someone so young he had a huge impact for club and country. He bullied centre halves, scored goals and was lethal in the air. In the 22/23 season he got an ankle injury and this seems to have dogged him in following seasons. Maybe it was his young age or style of play that exposed a weakness. In the 23/24 season he did his cruciate which can happen to anyone but he was out of action for a long time. After he returned he has been blighted by ankle issues. After his last breakdown ( playing with AS Roma ) he had an operation on the ankle which seems to have resolved the underlying problem. I have argued for a long time he would be an ideal front man for us if the ankle could be managed and starting with a lower risk loan. The only issue with getting Evan up to speed is that his return to play time frame could be September.
Unfortunately we need to hit the ground running and he could take until Christmas to be game ready. It's unfortunate because he would be a better team player than Delap with just as much a goal threat.
