One failing of town over recent times has been a lack of players and a tendency to shoot from outside the box, or on the edge.
Would you agree?
Philogene changed us a little bit cutting in, beating people on the penalty box edge and getting a shot away.
But what is good about Fatawu and especially Enciso is they have the ability and desire to shoot from further out.
This mixes up our play and our threat. And confuses defenders, brings them out of shape. If they see early long range efforts, they can then be drawn out to counter the player, thus allowing the shorter pass into attackers in the box or heading into the box.
And what we have seen under GON is we do get more attackers into the box earlier/quicker.

To be fair there has been evidence of some 'shoot on sight' in the past couple of games, particularly on Saturday. From memory Nunez, Lukic, Clarke and O'Shea all had a go from well out.
This may be an O'Neil 'thing' for this season, and Fatawu & Enciso will undoubtedly add more. |  | | |

While I think it often came across that way we were actually the team with the 6th most shots from outside the areas - we had 5 per 90 while Watford were top with 5.9 per 90. We were also 2nd for goals from outside the box over the course of the season.
Agree that Fatawu/Enciso both good at doing this.
Also not sure comparing last season when we were often facing teams sitting deep with this season when we'll mainly be trying to hit teams on the break will be great for comparisons of lots of things. | |

totally agree - there's a lot to be said for shots from outside the box that dont go "straight in"..... deflection... confusion of defenders/GK.... rebounds....
