Lots of praise for Lukic and rightly so, he played very well. Yet that was the best game Nunez has played in a Town shirt for me. He showed last season that he has an excellent workrate and demonstrated that again yesterday. However, last season and indeed pre-season he could look sloppy in possession but not yesterday when he moved the ball quickly, making himself available for short, quick passes to find that little bit of space. The consensus opinion on here is that he will be a fringe player when others are back or a further midfield signing is made. If that's what happens, then we will certainly have good depth in that area. Perhaps he will, however, have a bigger role to play in a midfield rotation? [Post edited 23 Aug 16:58]

Agree with all of that.
He was my concern in the lineup yesterday, based on his occasional sloppiness in possession, but he was very tidy in possession all game. |  |

Nunez could be a premier league quality midfielder if he just keeps it simple. He has great work rate, is actually quite good defensively, but last season gave away possession too often and tried to force things that weren't on. If he plays a more limited role he could be really good as we know he has the ability to pick a pass, he just needs to do it when it's actually on, and when it isn't just keep it simple. | | | |
