Was the clear togetherness of the squad. We seem to have not only signed some very good players but some very good eggs too. Lovely to see Enciso on the pitch at the end giving it large and embracing Nunez. Players not in the squad going up and down the touchline signing autographs and posing for selfies with the young fans (Emersonn and Fatawu in particular).
O'Neil didn't come into the easiest circumstances in some respects - replacing a man as popular and loved as McKenna. But have to say he seems to be smashing it so far. There is a real feel good feeling about the place and lots of smiles on faces.
Can't wait to add Palacios to our group of South Americans - an Argentinian, a Brazilian, a Chilean and a Paraguayan. I actually think it may really help Nunez too. Had my question marks about him going into this season but we've seen two really strong performances now. [Post edited 26 Aug 9:51]

Professional footballers are very competitive by nature so they love winning. That creates a feeling of general well-being & "togetherness". However, wait & see if the "togetherness" lasts beyond a couple of disappointing defeats. That's when we find out & the manager earns his corn. |  |

Certainly been a promising start to the season. Early days and bigger tests to come of course, not least on Sunday. Credit to the recruitment team too, land Palacios and a #9 and this will have been quite a remarkable window. Done very well on the outbounds so far as well, with a few more to come, and its not as easy as it looks. Must've been an awful lot of work.
Come deadline day the ingredients will be there. We don't need to win every week and we wont, there will be some tough days this season. Staying up and going up are very different mentalities, defeats aren't terminal. If we can stay together and pick up 11 or so wins and some draws we'll give ourselves a good chance. |  | | |

For that matter, we came back from an equaliser to win very late on Saturday. That is a capability not bad to demonstrate so early in the season.

Re your * comment. I've though that for a long time. We did OK against Liverpool for 60 minutes simply adrenalin and excitement. We started well against Many City, but sensed it was almost 'I can;t believe this' when we went ahead, but after they equalised I remember thinking at the time that it was like reality hit and they didn't really believe they could stand toe to toe against them. And that mentality grew and grew until they realised that nearly all the teams were just better than them and though they tried hard they didn't really expect to win.
And I think KM was the same really. He kept the chipper public face, but sensed that he knew the game was up soon after Christmas.
This lot are a whole different kettle of fish! Not perfect, but most have no doubts that they can play in the prem and are not overawed by the opposition. Been there, done that! |  |
