TWTD. I’m sure we had Escaped Goats before him, but that was the first time I became aware of any large scale targeting of a player. It was around the early internet days, so presumably that was when scapegoating became more visible.

Yes there was a game at Watford in October 2010 when we started with 4 centre backs - Troy Brown, Gareth McCauley, Damien Delaney & Tommy Smith & four central midfielders - Norris, Colback, Leadbitter & Livermore . What a surprise - we had no width & were 2-0 down at half time. Even Keane could see it wasn't working so he eventually made some changes & we only lost2-1. |  |
