Ipswich Portal - Give Vilnius a Wave 21:24 - Sep 8 with 951 viewsClareBlue

I am currently in Vilnius which is one of the 6 places linked world wide by the friends portal. Philadelphia in USA, Lublin in Poland, Minela in Philippines, Dublin in Ireland and Ipswich. I was on the live feed tonight, loads of interaction from everywhere except Ipswich. 3 people walked past and didn't even give us a wave. In Dublin we got a dance, Philly some sign language interaction and Lublin lots of waving and chat. We are trying again in the morning at 10 am with my ITFC cap on. If you see us, give us a wave please.

I’d forgotten Ipswich had one of them. If I’d have remembered I’d have popped by on Saturday, but I didn’t remember and it’s too late now. It’s a brilliant concept and anything that brings people together has to be a good thing.

Poll: Escaped Goat of the day. Who’s it going to be?

Good city, Vilnius. Have you been up Gediminas' Tower? Great views. The KGB museum is rather grim, tho. Trip out to Trakai Castle well worth it.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Vilnius is a great city, I have been lucky enough to visit many times over the last few years for work, the most recent to give a talk at the National Art Museum. I encourage leaving the city centre. walk up the river to the forests and Soviet planned areas and the TV tower, to Užupis (now very gentrified, but a fascinating rebellious history), to the arts centre SODAS.

I also suggest, if you have time, going to Kaunas. A wonderful city.

Lithuanians are amongst the nicest people I have met on my travels,

We were in Kaunas a good few times as there is a direct flight from Shannon and we are 30 minutes from the airport so we fly there and use the really good Lithuanian train system. We've done a few days in Palanga and the Coronium Spit in September the last couple of years. A really underestimated destination for travel.
Will on the portal today but forgot we are 2 hours ahead so it will be early in Ipswich.
Flying to Riga pm but will be back.

Yes, perfect weather. T shirt but not too hot for doing tourist things. Just walked past and got more thumbs up for ITFC. Doing backflips and dancing in Manila, so that's the standard for residents of Ipswich. Good Luck on that from someone who is pleased to tie their own laces in the morning.
