| Would be nice to go ahead of Hull this weekend 16:37 - Oct 5 with 1234 views | _CliveBaker_ | Not thinking too far ahead and all that (maybe I am) - can't help but still feel we'll need to finish above both promoted sides to stay up. Hull have obviously had a great start, but since their opening 2 wins they've gone DDL (Villa, Chelsea, Newcastle though, so not too shabby to be fair to them). Would be nice if they suffer a bit of a bubble bursting defeat at home to wily Everton on Sunday, and we can beat Fulham. Main thing is us of course, 9 points from 6 games would have to go down as an excellent start if we can do it. COYB. | | | | |

I’m not so sure about Fulham being relegation candidates. We’ll know more come 5pm Saturday. If we beat them and reach 9 points after 6 games, 1.5ppg, it’ll be a huge boost to our survival chances. But our midfield without Palacios starting (due to international travel - although a flat bed and business class eases the fatigue) will be facing - Iwobi, King and Bobb! Hopefully Lukic who’ll be back to Town today will want to put on a show against his old club. Getting 6 points clear of Coventry (who host Newcastle Monday) and 7 from Fulham would be bloody good. I think Hull could get something at home to Everton thought - or will the fairytale start malfunction?!

There's a lot of noise about Fulham being ones to struggle but I'm yet to be convinced. As you say Iwobi, King, Bobb. Leno, Bassey, Robinson, Berge among others. Not convinced Shea Charles is all that at Premier League level though. They've made a slow start but had some encouraging results lately against Liverpool and United. I think it'll take a big effort to finish above them, having said that if someone said it's a 32 game season and we start on 7 points more than them it starts to feel quite plausible, which would effectively be the case if we beat them Satdee. Don't disagree about Hull by the way, they'll be full of optimism. Just think Everton are that wily, street wise, flat track bully who do travel well and have a great habit of winning those games against bottom half sides. They don't tend to upset the form book very often under Moyes (convincing win against Chelsea at home last season aside), but they're pretty consistent outside of the top 6 or 8. Hopefully they can do to Hull what they did to us last time we hosted them at PR.

I think my take is that you can make a similar case about all the established PL clubs - they have a handful of very good players and solid squads. I tend to look at who is in the dugout. Not convinced by Arbeloa at all, or Pierre Sage at Palace for that matter. Put Moyes in charge of either of them and it would be a different matter.

Last time up we couldn't beat a carpet, but it does look like we've got some wins in us this time, and a win on Sat would have me starting to believe it really is going to be different this time round.

Would be massive. 6 games in if we've beaten Fulham, Sunderland and Palace, and away at Everton we asked plenty of questions of them, even when down to 10 men. That has to give us some confidence that we can mix it with those middle / bottom half PL sides. Defeats to United and Liverpool is no disgrace. We've not played an Arsenal or City yet, equally not a Hull or Cov either. The 6 we'll have played is a pretty reasonable cross section of PL life. Big one Saturday, would love it if we can win and be sitting in the top half.

A win on Saturday would make it an excellent start. Even a draw pretty good.

| Would be nice to go ahead of Hull this weekend on 20:51 - Oct 6 with 70 views | Radlett_blue | I don't think we need to agonise about what other clubs are doing, although if a couple of clubs look like getting cut adrift at the bottom, our task of staying up becomes easier. We simply need to keep picking up wins against the middling & lower clubs. We've beaten Sunderland & Palace already & Fulham is a game we should be well capable of winning, although no wins at this level will be anticipated or easy. | |
