Gamechanger and ORG started bringing new investors in after about three years, both for giving a return and to inject new money. Spreading the load. A process which has cotinued since. Outright sale is only one of the options on the table, from what Friedkin have said.

Why would anyone invest money in any club outside the big brands now the Man City verdict underscores the disproportionate ability to invest is baked in to benefit Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd and you're never allowed to compete with them. Watch how quick Newcastle's owners are going to be out too I'd imagine if the verdict is upheld...

Except that two of those are currently being out-competed by considerably smaller clubs (who haven't blatantly flouted the rules like ManC).

In the short term. Reliant on uncovering 'hidden gems' to stay afloat by selling them on. But look how Villa have to sell off a fantastic team this summer, whilst Tottenham continue to spend on rubbish like drunken sailors. Man City are the symptom not the cause - the Premier League's entire structure and FFP are the problem.

Hmm. They chose to cook their books to fraudulently represent 3/4 of their total income as genuine when it wasn’t. I’m not sure they’re exactly an innocent casualty of FFP rules.

No - no I don't and they rightly deserve to be punished for flagrantly disregarding rules etc. However, what I am saying is the whole Premier League breakaway in the first place was a big stitch up for the big clubs to monopolise the tv money and cement their dominance. Chelsea and Leeds spotted it was becoming about money early with wildly different consequences and it was tolerated, then Man City did it on another scale so suddenly a whole host of rules are brought in. City broke the rules flagrantly, but all these protections with FFP simply cement the 3 or 4 megabrands as permanent fixtures in the money-monopolising positions eternally. Look at how even a club the size of Villa have now had to dismantle their growing squad and think why would you invest?
