Let's assume that Adam Webster is that good 10:01 - Jun 28 with 867 viewsDanFord

Some of us think he's a good player and that we can't turn down a fee rising to £8m for a player that's injured 50% of the time. Others think the fee is short and he's going to go on an be a Premier League player, possibly an international. If we assume that Webster is that good then why would he agree to move to Bristol City? A club that was a few places above us last year. They have a marginally better chance of going up and they chuck money at it but he's hardly going to double his wages. They've never been in the Premier League since football was invented in 1992. If Webster really is that good then why do we not have Premier League clubs making similar offers for him and why isn't Webster holding out for a Brighton, Burnley or Fulham?

After two seasons or so at Bristol he'd have a better chance at being looked at by prem clubs. Although Flint moved to a different championship club, at Bristol he was tracked by some prem teams

Because he hasn't done the necessary yet to attract a bigger club. If we're willing to sell him, we obviously view him as expendable therefore why would he hang around?

Either he'll play every game for Bristol over the next few years and get a move up the ladder, or he'll play 50% of the games as he has done here and at Pompey and go nowhere. Only time will tell, but I trust Hurst to make the right judgement as he looks to shape the team in his own image. You've got to back the manager, I understand why people are raising a bit of an eyebrow over this one but if selling Webby means Hurst can put together the team he wants, it's a necessary sacrifice.
