I commented last week about how much I hate and how I pick up litter every week. I saw this and I think it is a brilliant idea. For the organisers they are probably saving a fortune but it is raising awareness in the young as well.

Loads of festivals run similar schemes, but for every good initiative there are idiots who'll ruin it. Was at a festival in Germany a few years ago where they had the usual 'bring back 10 cups and get a free pint' deal. Lots of tw@tty 'lads' made a point about dropping their empty cups and watching people pick them up. Still, I got a free pint and they didn't, so needless to say I had the last laugh.

My pet hate as well.

Good idea - but the cynic in me says that some of the great unwashed would just empty it out of the nearest bin to save the effort of having to pick it up!
