Surely it's not really up to them? If the government has restrictions in place still then holding a football match, even behind closed doors, would mean lots of people mingling who shouldn't and C-19 possibly being passed back to entirely new social groupings.

Going to be hard to justify that whilst millions of people are stuck in their homes in order to prevent what the matches will enable.

And if it's pushed back a month they won't get it done before the start of the next season.

A letter was sent out to all 71 EFL clubs by Chairman Rick Parry.
" How and when we will return ( including training) is clearly subject to change and any decisions will be taken in conjunction with the government and relevant health authorities," the letter said.

The clubs, especially the Premier League, will be desperate to get it done so that they can claim to have fulfilled their commitment to broadcasters, so as to avoid a huge amount of money being raked back by Sky, etc.

Hardly going to help the lower echelons if played behind closed doors as they'll get no gate money!

I think the players need to accept that they are currently in their close season.
