Ton up Zak Crawley! Well done lad. 16:06 - Aug 21 with 602 views | gainsboroughblue | Abstained from posting that he was approaching it for obvious reasons. He really does seem one for the future, rather belittling his modest First Class stats.

Ton up Zak Crawley! Well done lad. on 16:11 - Aug 21 with 589 views | Steve_M | Players like Michael Vaughan and Trescothick came into the England team without too much of a county career behind them. The way Crawley seems able to control the pace of his scoring might put him in the same category one day. Another intriguing Test match unfolding, Pakistan came back from a poor first hour but England are still scoring fairly quickly. Should be aiming for 350+ here I think but not sure how close we'll get.

TMS were earlier suggesting that 270 plus would be a competitive score on this wicket. Pakistan as we know are very mercurial as an outfit. They could collapse like a pack of cards or two or three batsmen could really dig in and put us under pressure. For all the lack of crowds, secure bubbles, rain and light delays etc, we have seen some cracking test matches this summer.

Who knows with England. Even when we appear well-set, you always fear that a clatter of wickets is never far away....

Was that at 130/4 though, less than 300 would be disappointing from here (206/4). Yes, been a good Summer in the end - good pitches that offer something to everyone and good bowling attacks make for good Test cricket. Telling that the only Test that wasn't competitive was when WI had knackered their bowlers.

Not sure as it has been white noise a lot of today as working from home/phone calls with it in the background. I think you may be right though. Probably was during that period where we lost Root and Pope rather quickly in succession. 350-400 surely must be the aim here. Would be nice to see Buttler convert to a hundred.

Quick note for Buttler too, after criticising him for his lack of contributions with the bat, he’s come back well over the last couple of tests.

It's a shame there's no crowd here, this session would be quite lively. Especially with the first over with the new ball going for 17. Butler is looking much better than at the start of the Summer, Sky were saying he's changed what he does with his front foot as part of his trigger movement. It probably helps playing at six rather than seven too.
