Hawkins centre half 16:59 - Aug 29 with 1011 views | MonkeyAlan | Anybody else get the feeling he will spend more time as a central defender than up top this season? I secretly think that's what he has been brought in for. Then Lambert can chuck him up front if he gets desperate. If he is used as a lone striker God help us. As it is l can't see where the goals are coming from. Norwood and Jackson are bang average for this league.

Of course, playing a blinder in one or other position then changes that. How many did Norwood and Jackson score last season? Not sure that makes them bang average. The problem is with giving them the service. We need to show far more attacking intent.

Has Jackson kicked a ball as yet in Pre season ?

Jackson stats would argue against that "bang average" assertion, but if P.L. doesn't rate him playing wide (which he did at Accrington when he first attracted our attention) then, as he certainly isn't a C.F. playing in a three, we look set to waste him or move him on. Just think that's where he will end up. If not he is sitting on the bench as many seem to think Normal Norwood or Jackson will get the nod up front.

Again, the question would be why didn't he play there today then? I think most people think it will be Chambers and Woolfenden in defence with Wilson, Nsiala and Ndaba as back ups. Given that Skuse can play there too I suspect the chances of him playing in defence are as remote as up front. I think the likelihood is he will offer a different option in attack from the bench and be available to cover in defence if necessary.

Because Normal Norwood was only fit to play one half and Jackson is just plain missing.

Ah, so Hawkins is more likely to play in attack then?

I wouldn't think so if the other 2 are ever fit, no.

But you think he will play at centre half if Chambers, Woolfenden, Wilson, Nsiala, Skuse and Ndaba all are?

Looking at that line up yes. Only Woolfy any good there. The rest are the worst centre halves we have had ever l would think.
