Keanen Bennetts article 01:16 - Oct 3 with 1333 views | El_Fenix | https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/players/keanan-bennetts-england According to this article Bennetts transfer fee when he went to Germany was around £2m. He signed a 4-year contract, plays left wing or left back, and takes awesome set pieces. I would start him today, but that is not the PL way ...

It's always something! PL should not play him on Tuesday. It's not worth the risk of him getting injured in a meaningless game.

But you'd have thrown him in today when we've not even had a proper chance to see how he looks in training yet?

Keanen Bennetts article on 08:16 - Oct 3 with 1037 views | JimmyJazz | You would have to ask why he's now being loaned out to League 1. Doesn't sound like, 2 years after arriving, things have worked out as well as hoped for in Germany?

Assuming prior due diligence and the player being match fit, yes. The player would be highly motivated; it would spark the attention and interest of other players on the team; and it would be an unexpected development for the other team to react to. Managers know that performances in training do not correlate directly with performances in competitive situations. They identify which players do better in competitive situations and which players perform better in the more comfortable surroundings of the training field.

And how would we know any of that about a player we signed yesterday afternoon who hasn't played much in the way of senior football?

Due diligence includes assessing his current fitness level and watching him play on video and in recent live action. If we indeed signed him sight unseen, and he is a largely unknown quantity, I would not start him immediately. (But without due diligence, I would not have signed him in the first place.)

Keanen Bennetts article on 14:48 - Oct 3 with 784 views | Nthsuffolkblue | I am glad it's not the PL way as starting him today would incur a large fine and a points deduction I suspect. I would wait until he has been registered. A little surprised McGuiness can't make the bench still but glad Woolfenden would have been ahead of him.

So I'm gleaning from this that you don't know all that much about him yourself, so I'm curious as to why you're advocating throwing him in straight away to a team that's won three out of three in the league?

I want loan players to be impact players, not backups. I want to start out positive expectations and let them show what they can do. Last season I felt sorry for Anthony Georgiou ... With Keanen Bennetts, I would want to get an early look at what he can do at set pieces as well as how he compares to Freddie Sears when playing wide left.
