Somethings a bit worrying in the Unstable model, Sheff Weds fan view 12:37 - Sep 26 with 1033 viewsunstableblue

Three things will win us games and get us into the play offs

1. Have the better players
2. Greater confidence, desire and energy
3. Better tactical and technical set up

We have 1 nailed.. this is such a talented group

My worry from what I have heard from yesterday is this confined lack of real fight/energy/desire

Jury very much out on 3, and that’s Cook

Having said that we had the chances to win yesterday

My Sheff Weds mate at the game (mates mates mates) stated the following:

- Sheff Weds were much better than recent games (not what mick said on the radio)
- he liked el Mizouni (goes against what I’ve read)
- but our central midfield were weak overall
- hutchinson their stand out
- Ipswich didn’t step up and grab the game which Weds were offering them
- our full backs too deep

Did Mick Mills say Wednesday had played worse than their previous games? I thought he said they weren't that good. Better than a draw with Shrewsbury and a heavy defeat to Plymouth is not the same as necessarily playing well.

The radio and others seem to be saying El Mizouni played well so not sure where your idea this Wednesday fan is a lone voice comes from.

Central midfield has been a problem but the result would suggest it wasn't as much of one yesterday. We can't rest all our hope on Morsy like some seem to be.

The full backs were missing KVY and Coulsen. Hopefully KVY will be fully fit and on form soon and Coulsen too. Penney was Cook's signing so it is a little odd he didn't get someone more suited to his system there. Donacien is doing a very decent job by all accounts whilst not being exactly the style we are after. I wonder whether Burns could get a go there against sides that will have less attacking threat than Wednesday did.

If he thought our central midfield was weak I’m not sure what he made of Wednesday’s… non-existent?

I think confidence again was a huge issue and we shot our bolt from around mid way through the second half; we really struggled to play between the lines and changing the shape actually made things worse. Donacien is not an attacking full back but KVY has been struggling defensively. Penney did well in the first half but lost his way in the second, meaning we lost width. Celina had an off game which meant we struggled to link midfield with attack. Although he made a mess of it, Harper breaking through was an example of what we were missing.

The Weds fan said they’d played better than in recent games, and thought they were good

Mick Mills on the radio stated they were no that impressive

Hope that’s clearer!

Coulson is a key player in Cooks system, hopefully he’s not out for long

KVY is weak defensively at present, but will come good

Sheff Weds had a very strong front 3 and seems we kept them in check, which is a positive

Ah, so a Wednesday fan who has seen his team struggle has lower standards on what is a good performance than Mick Mills does. Fair enough. I think this goes back to Maki's argument over the "older generation" wanting to see effective winning football while the younger generation are just happy with improved performances.

Agree with the rest but just feel that the back-up Cook got in should have been more suited to Cook's system than Penney appears to be.

Most Wednesday fans on their forum think they were poor yesterday

Just sharing the view of one fan… sounds a biased view

But first half mick Mills was really stating Weds were poor and we just weren’t taking the game to them

As I stated in point 2, winning has a LOT to do with confidence, and desire, we still seem weak in this area, and heads drop.. cool and the players are starting to bang on about the dressing room atmosphere… need to see it on the pitch

Yes Celina did sound poor on radio.. Fraser however sounded a stand out player… so how we get Edwards into the team to give us pace to break the lines… Harper and Chaplin perhaps Harlow a role
