The issue that's blown up here is that several Tory MPs have probably broken the rules by using their privileged position to influence government policy and procurement in the favour of their other employers. Any MPs from other parties should face similar scrutiny if they've also broken the rules of course.

Yet having a second job in itself is not against the rules, so doesn't really work as a bit of whataboutery. There's certainly a case for a discussion about whether they should be allowed to have additional employment, but that's a separate debate.
