Will somebody coach this team how "press" the opposition please. 12:41 - Dec 16 with 440 views | cbower | We just don't seem to have any success doing it whatsoever. Our players run headless at opposition defenders / midfielders but they don't do it as a unit and there is always an outball for them and they simply play around our so-called "press" with ease. Barrow ffs did it countless times last night. However, when they pressed, they did it with some cohesion, forced us backwards (invariably for a hoof from Walton) or our players had no outball, panicked and gave the ball away. It needs to be coached, drilled repetitively for it to work. Our "press" knackers our players for absolutely no reward at the moment. The lack of coaching is so evident in all aspects of our team and the depth of squad is both a fallacy and an utter distraction at this level.

An a low-knowledge fan I can see we need to learn to keep better shape, press as a unit, pass the ball, have more pace about our attacks, defend narrow and attack with width, use a blend of passing range and running at players ... I am sure there is a lot that the new coach will have already identified as needing to work on.

That second goal was disgraceful and embarrassing last night. How El Miz and Carroll could just stand there and watch as their player ran 20-odd yards to bang in the rebound unchallenged is beyond me. In fact it should be beyond anyone who likes to call themselves a professional footballer.
