Manchester advice (tram/parking etc.) 10:23 - Apr 11 with 856 views | unbelievablue | Heading to Manc on Saturday and driving up from the West Midlands. I hate driving in city centres...wondered, does anyone have any park and ride/park and tram recommendations to make life easier and cheaper? I have been considering East Didsbury (as it seems to be a free parking situation) and tram in from there. Cheers in advance.

Manchester advice (tram/parking etc.) on 11:57 - Apr 11 with 751 views | Ftnfwest | when i took my daughter in the autumn to look at manchester uni (not an official open day as there wasn't one) we street parked for free at west didsbury which was the end of the bus route. Several roads which are next to the end of the bus route. There's a turn in where the buses come in nearby on the main road in. About a 20-25 minute trip into city Centre (goes straight through the uni campus on the way which is why we went that way).

There is a car park, by the Arndale if you fancy driving into the centre. Other option is to park in a village nearby and train in. But for ease, East Dids and a Tram is a good shout. Although not sure if it's free.

If you're coming up the M6 then Altrincham is another option. has a bonus of being a nice place to wander around as well
