TWTD info share re fuel tariffs - 16:59 - Apr 29 with 986 viewsRyorry

Shell Flexible Economy 7 (elec only, price checked with them today by phone)
Day - 31.734p/unit (kWh)
Night - 17.216p/unit
Daily SC - 48.99p

M& S (also checked today via phone call)
Day 29.17p/unit (kWh)
Night 20.08p
SC 48.73p daily

Anyone else? Finally got round to looking around today due to getting email from Shell (who I was forcibly switched to when Green went under) stating that my monthly DDs would be increasing from £49 to £166 monthly

Obvs I knew they'd go up, but by that much is unwarranted. Rang, & they brought it down to £100. About 20 mins on hold before getting through to a rep (in South Africa!) but actually their customer service is really good, best I've ever had apart from Green (who were brilliant, & UK based).

Bulb was one of the ones I was going to ring, so cheers for that.

Cheaper for me to stick with an E7 or E10 supplier tho, as I'm a night owl (partly cos my dog needs to go out for pees at frequent intervals).

Wow! I thought electricity was expensive here. Those prices are crazy.

I imagine Norway's politicians who were/are in power (ho ho) didn't/don't personally have vast numbers of shares invested in fossil fuel industries, and therefore put a lot of time, effort & money into investing in renewables many years ago when the writing was already on the wall re dependence on oil & gas, which resources we already knew were finite, never mind climate change & dependence on Russia.

I'm with SSE and am paying 27.9p per unit and 50.06p per day standing charge. Having heating oil and a Rayburn which can be switched to heat the water in the central heating I don't use much electricity and have never gone in for the yearly cost check on prices but I did have a squint at Octopus as a comparison last year. Might be worth another look now.

FYI i believe their prices vary a little depending on location in the UK. Probably not too much but the figures i quotes are for South Glos

Que? On your climate change point - Norway are of the largest carbon exporters, and now controversially applying to drill in the Artic.

We do however sell you Brits a lot of hydroelectricity. With regards electricity bills, our government has committed to paying 90% of everything over 0.7 kr kwh, for the next year.
