Khan acted outside of the relevant process (possibly legislation) for sure. Then again Dick oversaw and failed appropriately to deal with, over a number of years and at different levels, the performance and behaviour of her officers who in some instances clearly broke the law. The Met was placed in "special measures" as a result of her tenure. Will anything be done about either of these things?

there is a possibly a political undercurrent here. Pretty Awful Patel as Home Secretary doesnt like Khan ands the Tories dont a left leaning London, other other mayors so its likely this is being postioned in such a way to allow the government to take back some of the mayoral pawers Something to do with democracy and giving local power to local people
