Today may not have been a big statement to the rest of the league 22:56 - Sep 3 with 1135 viewsSimonds92

But imo its massive against a team we have always struggled against who were unbeaten up until today. We've all seen us play the better football and lose to these horrible niggly teams so i see this as a real significant step. We need a player with a little bit of magic to be the difference in these games and Chaplin has shown he could be the man to make the difference when we really need it.

I think this is a massive result…

As I stated in a much maligned and misunderstood post we really didn’t cope with their man for man marking in the first 30mins.. and we didn’t have enough energy in our game to really stretch them.. and JJ and Jacko didn’t suit what we were playing forward

BUT to give us huge credit we still had full control of them and the game, unlike last season

And also unlike last season we bring on subs of incredible quality, and change the game, get the goals

I am feeling quite confident about the season… despite the awful spectacle of the first half

What also helped was the way they set up was something we haven't come across yet.. so that's another match to re watch for the management team to digest, look at the data and train on to be prepared for it again should it happen. But as you say the nice part was the fact we didn't struggle. We took time to take in and deal with it and then once Accrington had no choice but to change tact, we then took advantage.

So far we've had teams who sit deep. Teams who play. Teams who go direct. Teams who press. A team who man marked. So far we have passed those tests and learned from each one. Which can only help us further as the season goes on.

The big Big tests come against the top sides. No doubt. But you can only play those in front you.

We are perhaps becoming a better away team than home team? I agree, today is a significant result & should give us a lot of confidence. Now let’s beat a couple of the leading teams!

I wouldn't say so

We maybe should have beaten bolton after a tough first half.

Last week the ref stopped us winning.

I don’t care about the opposition. It’s an important result in the journey of this squad, that’s all that matters, that we continue to develop, perform and grow as a successful football team. Finding ways to overcome all kinds of opposition is part of the promotion toolkit.

Yeah plus we we’ve played better teams at home.

I think it was maligned because we didn’t concede any goals in this period when you said we didn’t cope.

I didn’t think Barnsley were anything special but seeing them win at Wednesday, they deserve a little more respect. Home draws against them and Bolton don’t look so bad (and both games we gave away really; stupid penalty and sheeite defending x 2)
