Has anyone tried the new CityFibre broadband offer that is dropping through every letter box in town , just wondering if they connect through your current provider then charge charge you ? …. Thus leaving your current provider without your custom !
Surely laying these cables right across Ipswich must of cost millions with no guarantee of customer numbers , or am I simply miss reading their flyer that came through the door .

We've had the same here in Nottingham. Millions spent on making a mess of roads and pavements and very few seemingly signing up. They can't offer TV or other packages so have a very poor offering when compared with other providers.
Another of our City Council's stupid vanity projects.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Think it was one of the government initiatives that was rolled out perhaps two/three years ago. The initial contractors who were doing the work on Moreton Hall in Bury were so bad, they had to be replaced. Also had to do a lot of remedial work too. Was chaos, holes in pavements for weeks.

Snap roads closed , probably every pavement in town dug up , total mess across town , I personally thought it was all done to provide the nation with a worthy broadband network and paid for by local authorities/ Government ……… what a gamble by them to assume big numbers from it .

I had a chat on the doorstep with a CityFibre chap, and I got the impression that they were simply upgarding the fibre network for other broadband providers to use, not that they were the actual service provider.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

We have city fibre here in Southend it's in conjunction with Vodafone. They run a completely new cable into the house. You have a few different options up to 500mps which is on an offer of £30 a month for 2yrs. Works out cheaper than our old BT contract. We had the full package which has a booster with Alexa built in.
