Is the no 9 in this set up 19:32 - Oct 15 with 685 viewsSmithy

Solely to take the hits, back to goal, hold the ball up? then try to bring others into play and be no threat to the goal at all??

or can we adapt to a more pacy, direct and threatening striker, say er Burns??

37 years and counting!
Poll: We've had some awful managers in recent years, but who do you dislike the most?

I don't see a problem with a low scoring 9 whose main focus is back-to-goal hold-up and link play.

The problem we have is that none of our strikers can do it.

Ladapo has no control and the ball bounces off him. He can't pass either, which means his link-up is poor. I don't really get a sense of what he is good at or how we could better utilize him.

Jackson wants to run in behind. He always looks lost at 9 and looks far more effective as a wide 10 or wingback.

John-Jules is the best of a bad bunch of 9s and generally makes good things happen when he plays there but he doesn't have the presence to consistantly occupy defenders.

I hope Ahadme is good. Otherwise we need a new 9 in January or a new way of playing that better utilizes the players we have.

Ahadme might be good, but in a year or two. He looks very much a project at the moment.

If you have a low scoring 9 though, you need your 10s to get 15-20 each and others chipping in either 10+.

Poll: Would Lambert have acheived better results than Cook if given the same resources
