Unpopular Opinion 23:09 - Dec 29 with 1289 views | itfc_bucks | Ladapo's stats are actually up there with almost any striker in this division this season. He's not the issue. We're not creative enough in the midfield. Harness was anonymous today, Burns struggled too. We need to have difficult conversations about our ability to change shape, as it's feeling increasingly like quite a few teams know how to stop us playing in this wing-backs system. I don't think extra forward players are the solution.
Unpopular Opinion on 08:09 - Dec 30 with 1077 views | Guthrum | Problem is, playing centrally through packed defences is not really viable. There's just no space and too many markers. Ladapo does about as well in that central hold-up role as anybody at this level could. But the issue is not Ladapo, but alternative options to him, if we want to do something different up front.

Spot on. If it isn't working, we have no viable alternative. Ladapo has done well this season but he also isn't the kind of striker that will get you one out of nothing. TJJ was a great option for someone coming on and skipping past a player etc as well as being able to play slightly deeper. For me, that's the kind of striker we should be looking at in Jan. I'd also be tempted to go for someone that can play off the right. Burns just hasn't found his feet this season.

It's not quite flat but it's not full on wingbacks. I would like us to return to proper wingbacks and get Davis more in the game further up the pitch and allows over is the CB to roam forward more. I think we are lacking someone like a Barry Bannen, who operates centrally and has created the most number of chances in the division. Whatever his faults, when Jackson plays centrally he makes loads of runs which would set him free with the right ball, but we never play the ball to him. The thing with Bannen is that, when he sees a chance, he plays the ball quickly whereas our whole build up and play is fairly ponderous, thus allowing the opposition to regroup. Scott Fraser and Bersant Celina were this type of player too, both of whom could put through a killer pass. Incidentally, I don't put our problems down to the main striker because whoever plays there gets very few real opportunities. But I do think we need a back-up for Ladapo. I just can’t agree on Ladapo. He misses too many chances. Last night the had three great ones in little goal that Burgess scored. That was a cast-iron header that the likes of Norwood would have put away. If you watch him closely he’s regularly just inches away from a ball played into him because he’s too slow to attack the space. I think there are better strikers that are out there who would respond better to our midfield play.
