Illegal stream crackdown… on 21:38 - Jan 10 with 5609 views | Steve_M | "FACT cited the 2021 case against two individuals, Paul Faulkner and Stephen Millington, who were sentenced to a total of 16 months in prison for watching unauthorised streams." This seems proportionate. Presumably there is slightly more than the bare facts above behind that sentencing.

Yeah the problem is the distribution of content, but phrased like this scares people into stopping doing the streaming naturally. I'm not convinced police will visit 1000 homes, what are they hoping to achieve by saying "hello we got your name from a database, we think you might be doing naughty things with a firestick, please stop" just getting the news this may happen published will be enough to deter a considerable number of people from streaming. Plus this story could well be planted for that same reason by a media company who are prepared to pay a considerable sum for publication in the hope that subs increase... Notice deals from now TV sport and sky (I know they are linked) are currently rife on social media... I don't believe this duo of things is a happy accident. I haven't seen this BIG CRACKDOWN published on BBC, sky etc for example, publications that can't be bought as easily as the mirror and footy accumulators on twitter. I might be being naive but I can't see it being real

It's not, these stories come around every couple of years and nothing ever comes of it.

Not missed it apart from having the option of an interesting midweek Champions League clash. iFollow, Youtube highlights and Match of The Day seems to do me just fine these days.
