Get inside their heads, why they like Ipswich, what makes them come over here, what they think of Ipswich the town, could even slide gently into some Brexit discussion.

I think, naturally, in the UK there's still an obsession with Brexit. It was a hugely divisive and costly mistake. From my experience, many people in Europe couldn't give a sh1t. They're not as butt hurt by it as most of the loony Brexiteers liked to think they were going to be. It didn't 'bring down the EU' like many of them hoped. Frankly, we're not as significant as they like to believe, and it has been and will be more damaging to us than any of them. Most Europeans have issues closer to home they're much more concerned with, typically the same issues we have faced like Covid, inflation and cost of living challenges. The UK leaving the EU isn't something a lot of people outside of the UK seem to give a t0ss about now unless they're directly adversely impacted e.g. through commerce. [Post edited 12 Jan 2023 12:55]

X-Europe survey in today's Grauniad shows a big drop in support for exiting the EU in most countries. Solidarity against Russia will be the major factor, but the disaster that Brexit has been for UK is also relevant.
