If your game is getting it wide and putting crosses in 10:58 - Feb 13 with 658 viewscbower

Then you have to get bodies in the box to get on the end of them or to pick up the bits from hurried clearances. Far too often we have just one or sometimes two bodies in there with Morsy and usually Evans hanging back. Chappers, Harness, Broadhead, Aluko and Humphreys are all more often than not on the edge of the boxish rather than where the cross goes. Too many crosses therefore fail to find a Town player. I think this is why Camara was bought and why the lad from Posh was pursued. The box to box midfielder who can break the lines and allow Morsy to play his own game is missing.

Quite agree. The thing that wrangles me is why don’t our wing banks get to by line and pull the ball back into the box. You can’t be offside from it ( or rarely). Defenders are running back towards their own goal , and there’s every chance they could put it past their own GK. Whereas crossing the ball from the edge or top of the 18 yard area I’d quite a limited angle and easier to defend against in my humble view. But you’re right , we don’t often get enough bodies in the box to pile pressure on and get on the end of the loose ball.

Let me please say here though. I think Town have come on in leaps and bounds over the last 12 months . We’re all desperate for promotion. Maybe we’re just not quite there for this season though. And it might take another summer of additions to the squad. McKenna and Ashton and the coaching staff are not idiots or blind to what’s needed . It just takes a bit of time for Gamechanger to affect proceedings at the Club. They’re doing a bloody brilliant job so far. I personally need to be a bit more patient, but it’s not easy is it , in the heat of the moment!

Actually, we did that a number of times Saturday.

Broadhead, Burns and Davis certainly got to the byline and drilled a cross or pulled it back....it happened that it rarely beat a Wednesday player but we certainly do this. Burns and Chaplin have combined to do this several times successfully this season already.

... and Jackson of course. I personally think it's time to give Burns a rest and would like to see Jackson start a couple of games on the right. He proved against Burnley both times how well he can do there.
