Liverpool St trains - Wycombe 18:57 - Mar 31 with 1071 viewsnrb1985

Hi All - will need to get back to London after the Wycombe game with a small suitcase on me.

Looking at the 1710 train but wondering if that is going to be total carnage i.e. standing in the aisles etc as everyone scrambles to get that first train post match (not ideal with a carry on).

Could any of the London based fans advise? If it's going to be a bun fight I think I'd prefer to get a drink after the game and catch a later train.

Thanks in advance for any help!

When you get to the train, walk right where the doors are and go to the furthest carriage. I know that sounds very simplistic but the middle carriages are always standing room only (at best) whereas the end carriage you can literally sit down and have a choice of seats. I always find it crazy how it seems people get to the train and just assumed it’s all as packed as the two carriages they see directly in front of them.

I think at this stage you're unlikely to get a saving by booking specific train, so get an off peak return and you're fine to hop on anything that time of day.

I get the 17.45 normally and hang about for a pint or two afterwards. It's not busy at all.

Thanks both - will take my chances on the 1745!

Looking forward to Friday.

That's my experience too, and what I do.

It should be ok, busy until Colchester but it doesn’t stop after that so people for intermediate stops need to wait for the slower service.

Just go down the platform a bit and there will be more space.

and I assume once in London you go to Marylebone and get the train from Wycombe from there.

(I live near Thame and that train service is a godsend!)

Actually no - I'm a Town fan not a Wycombe fan :)

I need to get to a dinner in central after so will be my first time using the Elizabeth line to go to Bond St! Looking forward to seeing what it's like.
