I say this as a contrast to many previous years - even 2021/22 - where a constant problem has been the lack of people to get on the end of crosses, to pick up rebounds and generally to panic defenders not knowing who to watch. I don't know if it is a function of our parsimonious defence allowing the spare players to get forward or simply a more attack-minded setup. But this season has been a vast improvement and Town have reaped the rewards of that. | |

KMcK has really fine tuned our entire team shape when not in possession of the football, which means more confident passes are being made in front of advancing attackers rather than trying to push into the corners before passing back into the halfway line, as we're not so afraid to be hit on the counter. One thing I noticed watching EFL highlights is that a LOT of goals are scored from the middle of the park around the edge of the area, so I am glad we caught onto that instead of heavily favouring the wings all the time. One other thing KMcK has done is create danger from set pieces. We were atrocious at this for so long, but this season our goal tally was helped massively by goals from FKs and Corners. This will be one of our biggest assets in the Championship next season should it continue. [Post edited 23 May 2023 22:46]
