The random Belgian team who beat us in a friendly at PR and it was considered a terrible result, just seen that they lost the top League title on goal difference at the weekend.

Also, didn’t know they are owned by Brighton chairman Tony Bloom - that man seems to turn everything to gold

Their league system is so random. You could finish top of the league after 34 games but then get put into a playoff between the top 4 finishing teams of that season!

Last season Brugge finished 2nd but ended up winning the league because they won the playoffs

They came top last year and also got to the Europa League quarter finals this season.

How much our fortunes differed in that brief spell since we played them!

Was going to post this later - was a heck of a climax.

Three teams going into the final day with a chance of winning. USG winning 1-0 in 89 minute, enough to clinch the league as things stood. They concede, so Genk who are beating Antwerp 2-1 stand to win the league. Then up pops Toby Alderweirald in the 94th minute to equalise for Antwerp and win them their first title in over 60 years.

Antwerp also won the league at Union SG's expense... as they were top until the 93rd minute until conceding twice in stoppage time v Brugge

Ross Sykes moved there last summer from Accrington Stanley. He's had a reasonable first season with them, and we're hoping to get over to see them sometime.
(He's KJ's cousin's other half, so was always good to catch up with them over a weekend whilst we had the unfortunate situation to be playing them a few times in recent seasons. When we lost the FA Cup game up there, we went bowling the following day, and Yasmin actually beat Ross - and on winning, her words to Ross were "And that's for Ipswich!!" as she'd been the mascot the day before, carrying the ball onto the pitch.

Great story. Go Yasmin!
