The Rise of the 'Fake' No 2 Goalkeeper 09:54 - Jun 11 with 1876 viewsSheffordBlue

An interesting article here on how EFL clubs are gaming the emergency loan goalkeeper rules.

If Hladky were to leave in the summer this situation could apply to us with Nick Hayes not currently meeting the criteria for 'professional goalkeeper'.

Not immediately clear of the logic here:

“The clause is actually designed, in theory, to protect inexperienced young goalkeepers from being thrown in the deep end in the EFL”

If they never get a chance to gain experience they’ll always be inexperienced.

It's pretty much nonsense isn't it. Simply change the rule back to a professional goalkeeper being a goalkeeper who is a professional and problem solved.

That any business might exploit a legal loophole is embedded in the law of unintended consequence. But the E.F.L. surely have a duty of care that means they ought to look into this very carefully.
