A heads up for cycling fans - Netflix have 2022 Tour de France series on 20:03 - Jun 11 with 1286 views | stonojnr | I thought it was bit rubbish really, its trying to be Drive to Survive for cycling as if that format makes the perfect sports documentary template alone, but theres more scope over a season to build a story around a F1 driver or team, even if its build up for one specific race in one episode, and then they can follow the driver through all the sessions, and the race and get a bit behind the personalities of those involved, even if they make up some of the nonsense. here its like, ok this is the one stage, and this is the rider, quick cuts of onboard team cars and bikes for the action often with appalling dubbing, and not alot of it adding to describe or tell the viewer whats going on anyway, and barely any background for people unfamiliar to cycling about who, why or what is happening. like theyre dealing with the crash on stage 2, and race radio is calling out a number of a rider repeatedly, we never find out who that was, why it was important, or that actually it didnt matter anyway, or even why is there a guy in a car called "race radio" doing this stuff. (for avoidance of doubt I know cycling enough to know why he's there, but alot of people who dont follow cycling wont) plus theyve picked the most unconvincing of unconvincing race commentators, who sounds like he's just reading lines for a console game theyre that bland and unimaginitive, surely if theyve got access to race footage they can grab any of the broadcasters to add that colour. then every on screen graphic is in french, and then instantly overdubbed in English, maybe American audiences struggle to translate Copenhague to Copenhagen but it feels like just pick one format and stick to it. I just felt its a missed opportunity to do a proper documentary on a grand tour race and go more than just this superficial barely scratches the surface level. there are amateur cyclist content creators on youtube who put together better content, better editing with better production values about cycling in general than this. but hey if you like it, go for it :)

That’s fair enough, It was a French Netflix production, which probably account# for the flaws
