I remember them. Northern Ireland are actually the holders!
They were stopped due to the trouble like you say but replaced by the Stanley Rous Cup where we played Scotland plus a guest nation from CONMEBOL in later years.
Seems a bit odd to stop the home nations because of hooliganism but happily allow Scotland and England to still meet once a year. | |
