Hope that McKenna and Barton have time for a chat about handling pressure 10:33 - Aug 9 with 1704 views | patrickswell | tonight. Kieran can advise on how you turn around a poor run of form with 13 wins in 15 to get promotion and Joey can talk about how you deal with twice being on trial for assault. But then I guess the civilian won’t have much to learn from the man with the A-Team CV, because the civilian isn’t a cancer on the sport. Enjoy tonight’s cup final, Joey. You may even win it given our record in this competition, but what you smelt on Kieran wasn’t pressure, it was success. And unlike you, he thoroughly deserves it. Oooh…I do feel a fool! Sympathies to Dean Holden who is going to be the first manager this season to have to share a touchline with him.

He says he's not apologising for the way they played, and then later on says, ""I was apologising and I do apologise to our fans that tune into this. I don’t want to sit and counter teams, I want to be in the middle of the ring, the middle of the pitch, with the ball taking the game to teams". Eh?

He says Ipswich were under pressure due to poor form (true at the time), and that there was a difference in quality due to respective budgets (true) and he had to set his team up to match that quality in a way that would not compromise them or lose them points (true). It worked and although he didn't want to play that way, he had to. Fair enough. If we played say an Arsenal we'd have to do the same. Where he goes off rails was the random dig at Kieran not making it as a player, this is somewhat silly, he was injured early on and transitioned to coaching whereas Barton for what its worth had a decent career as a player. He alludes that to him having an edge on McKenna based on that, which is in some ways correct but in other ways McKenna has been coaching longer, and at a very good level, Leicester City, Spurs and Manchester United whereas Barton has been learning his trade in the lower leagues. It sounds like Barton wanted the Ipswich job, look at me, I have the experience of winning as a player that this guy doesn't, if you employ me with that budget I will make good on it... as this being modern football he was probably expecting McKenna to get Paul Cooked not long after that game.

I haven't met him, so would defer in my opinion of him to someone who has. Someone like Jamie Tandy, for example: https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/convicted-footballer-who-cig
