The people referred to in this article do generally have accommodation but no home, so that wouldn’t really fix the problem for tens of thousands of people.

As you say, there's no real desire to change this. Not in our politics, our political coverage nor in our public debate.

We've become increasingly selfish and cruel towards those on the margins of society. I suspect because way too many embrace the growing inequality in our society if they profit from it — or think they do.

Local councils don't have the foreign aid budget to keep pulling funds from.

But, as in the article, they actually are put up in hotels.
