Why would we keep him if he's not registered as a squad player? And doesn't our squad size add up to the permitted number only if it includes him?

Don’t think clubs have to register their squad until the transfer window closes, as players can still come in or go out at the moment so clubs are still allowed to change which players they have registered.

At least, that’s how it used to work on FM - haven’t played in a few years, mind.
