When you see photos of crowds in the 1920s and 30s - wouldn't they have seen more if people had taken off their hats?

The pitch looks a bit cobbled together.

Always wondered how annoyed the Pompey fans must've been if you're sat behind that bloke with the chimes and massive Jamiroquai hat. I had the misfortune of being about 5 ft away from him at an England game once, those bells were so annoying and did nothing for my hangover.
