After yesterdays latest VAR mistake 10:57 - Oct 1 with 977 views | Cheltenham_Blue | I propose a standing rule for all VAR interventions. "If you are having to draw lines to prove its offside, then its onside"

After yesterdays latest VAR mistake on 11:02 - Oct 1 with 944 views | Nutkins_Return | Eh? That a novel one 😂 Thing is with his one it's a bad call for VAR to not pick it up. But people getting annoyed with VAR for this one need to remember without VAR the decision is the same. It was effectively not having VAR. Offsides I imagine will be automated in about 12 months with no errors (other than a bug). AI will be able to take car of it no problem.

After yesterdays latest VAR mistake on 11:03 - Oct 1 with 937 views | Guthrum | I disagree. Drawing lines is the quickest and easiest way to resolve offside. It should be the first thing they do, can even be automated within the video software.

There is already semi automated offside as seen in FIFA competitions. For whatever reason this hasen't been introduced to the Premier League. The issue yesterday was VAR thinking that a goal was awarded and they confirmed that their check was complete (no offside).

My point is, let's get VAR back to what it should have been about, clear and obvious errors. Yesterday was a clear and obvious error, lino flagged, VAR should have been involved and got the decision correct. The ones that irk me is players being given offside by a gnats foreskin, its not a clear and obvious error and the onfield decision should stand. Pre-VAR haw many managers did you ever hear complain about the striker being half an inch offside.

After yesterdays latest VAR mistake on 11:42 - Oct 1 with 846 views | Nthsuffolkblue | Either do away offside entirely, or allow the on-field officials to make the call and only over-rule where it is so clearly wrong that VAR can decided within 30 seconds. To help with this, two cameras that are constantly running the line with the last defender (or penultimate one if the keeper moves past them) would make the decision easy. All VAR decisions should be reserved for where the on-field officials have made a glaring error rather than an attempt to get every decision spot on - frequently experts disagree on them anyway!
