The Saint was also excellent and a great foil to Greavsie, rather like Ernie was to Eric.
They used to record it at the LWT studios on the South Bank, near Waterloo East Station, and I once saw The Saint on a train on the way to the station. We exchanged a knowing look when I realised who he was, and as always he had a bit of a twinkle in his eye. [Post edited 10 Nov 2023 20:27]

Back when football took itself far less seriously, I guess they got away with a lot because both had been such great players and there was no malice.
I remember loads of stuff on Cowdenbeath, interviewing Americans about the upcoming ‘94 World Cupnand highlighting how negative John Beck’s Cambridge were amongst many others. |  |
