Duke Fakirr, the last surviving Four Top, has passed away. Man, how I love that group. They never split despite Levi’s Stubbs being offered sole deals. To me the best, and they were in the same room as The Miracles, The Temptations and Isley Brothers. RIP together boys.

R.I.P Duke. Coincidentally I was just watching the Motown 25 concert. So many of those who took part are no longer with us.

Y parents had seen them a couple of times in the 60’s when they did Bentwaters as part of a tour of US bases in Europe, (this happened with many top US bands of the time apparently, unannounced to the public), I was so envious, then in 1991 they were announced as headline at a Gt Yarmouth Motown and Northern weekender! Vauxhall holiday park! We were sceptical it were going anyway, and on the Saturday night, there they were! On that low holiday camp stage, yards in front of me, Levi’s and the lads! They were fantastic, fed off the soul crowd, There were whisked off by limo at the end, but so glad I saw them.
